Week 2: Turtles, Coyotes, and Ritual Songs

Week 2: Turtles, Coyotes, and Ritual Songs

8/29/16 - 9/2/16

This week we will be diving into the beginnings of American Literature. Our first stories come from this continent's first inhabitants, the Native Americans. These stories will be "The World on the Turtle's Back", "The Coyote Stories", and different chants/rituals. Also, we will be going over a mini-lesson on 'power-notes' and reviewing common misunderstandings based off of last week's essays.

Monday - Essay review and discussing common mistakes and ways of improving. Power notes.

Tuesday - Read and take notes for: "The World on the Turtle's Back" first version.

Wednesday - Read and take notes for: "The World on the Turtle's Back" second version.

Thursday - Read and take notes for: "The Coyote Stories"

Friday - Read and take notes for: The Rituals and Chants.

Clearly this will be a week heavy with reading and note taking. These stories have been selected to serve as a starting point into American Literature as well as an acknowledgement of stories passed down orally.

Let's have a great week!
